Grand 19th Century French Renaissance Low Buffet ~ Console

Grand 19th Century French Renaissance Low Buffet ~ Console is a stunning work of art that glorifies the very definition of the epoch!  The full relief sculpture that appears across the facade is truly breathtaking, and includes a top tier with three drawers consisting of stylized foliates, lions' heads and scrollwork on each side and across the front.  Below the lions' heads on the corners appear lifelike cherubs forming a caryatid pose atop floral and foliates.  Flanking the opening in the center are della robia carvings sculpted to celebrate nature's bounty.  Together they provide a framework for the game carvings on each cabinet door that represent the epitome of the cabinetmaker's art in amazing detail.  The base below complements the upper drawer tier but is still unique in its own right, punctuated with rosettes for a wonderful finishing touch.  The design is interesting, as it could be used in an entryway, on a grand stairwell landing, a grand hallway, in a library, game room or dining room, and even as a desk!  Hand-crafted from dense, old-growth oak to last for centuries.
