Created in Normandy during the Louis Philippe period, this charming buffet à deux corps embodies the warmth and relaxed elegance of Country French design. Hand-crafted from solid pine, it features graceful lines, expressive carving and a lovely patina developed over generations.  Perfectly suited for display and storage, it could be considered either a vaisselier or a bookcase, or just a charming display cabinet.
The open upper bookcase is framed by carved uprights and crowned with a beautifully shaped bonnet enriched with scrolling details, carved medallions and delicate incised ornamentation. The original pine backboards retain a deeper aged tone, adding warmth and dimension behind the open shelving.
Below, a pair of paneled cabinet doors displays flowing carved scrollwork, complemented by a carved central stile, shaped apron and slender cabriole legs. The combination of open display shelving and enclosed storage gives the piece both beauty and practicality, while the softly aged pine lends an inviting sense of history.
The finish has been carefully stripped by hand by our in-house staff to retain the natural patina, character and time-softened beauty of the pine.
