19th Century French Louis XV Walnut Marble Top Vanity is a surprisingly rare find!  Hand-sculpted from sumptuous French walnut, it features the classic Rococo lines of the genre, starting at the asymmetrical shell carving atop the boldly arched mirror frame, flanked by cascading floral and foliate sprays.  The finely detailed frame in an hourglass form surrounds the original hand-beveled mirror, set on bronze pineapple bolts that allow it to pivot down or up to adjust to the height of the user.  The supports are graciously formed corbels carved with scrolls and foliates, leading the eye down to the base which supports the left and right-sided drawers.  The entire upper tier rests on the contoured and beveled marble top, richly veined and as carefree a surface as one can imagine.  Support is provided by the elegant framework below consisting of subtly contoured aprons all around, the front one carved with motifs complementary to the mirror frame crown, and fitted with four graceful cabriole legs carved with acanthus plumes above and escargots below.
